CREATORS SPOTLIGHT ALEX KOWALCZYK

I am a visual artist and an animator, and I joined Spectrum Productions in 2017. I started drawing at a very young age, in elementary school. Over the years, I have created a series of pencil portraits of Historical and Mythical characters. I love listening to music and I am inspired by history. Currently, I have an ongoing animated series called Quotations by Famous People, and I also completed two documentary shorts on Russian history. 

I often contribute to others’ projects with text or image. In 2018, I was part of a Biomusic workshop and I wrote several poems reflecting on my sense experience. In 2019, I exhibited my illustrations at an art exhibit called Autism Creates with other artists as part of the pre-Insar international conference.

I am interested in continuing my work in 2D animation, drawing and illustration, and expanding on tools and techniques in these domains.

HOBBIES AND INTERESTS

Whether the day is sunny, rainy, cloudy, etc., I try to read at least a little each day. My favourite novels to read are ones that are filled with the subject of History or Mythology. Whenever I read, I listen to music. The type of music I like to listen to the most is pop music. 

During Spring, Summer and Fall I go on bike rides. Sometimes I go to stores on my bike rides, sometimes to the park. During all four seasons I go on walks.

When there are days when I can’t go outside I keep myself occupied with board games, with my family, and video games.

What I also love to do is draw. It doesn’t matter if I am drawing for Spectrum or for myself, drawing is a much loved hobby of mine.
