Spectrum Fest 2023: A Weekend of Stars and Celebration! / Un week-end de Stars et de Célébrations !
Spectrum Fest 2023 was a resounding success and a victorious night for our filmmaking heroes! On Friday evening, we kicked off our 2-day festival with the much-anticipated premiere of Spectrum Live Season 2. The red carpet was rolled out, starry lights adorned the walls and with champagne, delicious food and great service provided by Traiteur G Catering, we celebrated all the artists and creators who contributed to this new season. The show did not disappoint, and we even got to meet some of the creators like Angela Criscuolo, Director of The Secret Ninja and Lucas Leroy, creator of The Blobz. A huge thank you goes out to Canadian Heritage for their support in bringing this production to the big screen, and congratulations to all on this successful premiere!
On Saturday, we were treated to a special presentation on audiodescription given by Rebecca Singh. This presentation is the first of a series being offered as part of Interrogating Access 2, and implementing accessibility tools in collaboration with the artist-run centre OBORO and the Musee d'Art Contemporain Montreal (MACM) with funding from the Canada Council for the Arts. This dynamic introduction to integrating audio description in film and visual art settings, was a valuable framework for considering how to approach adding this accessibility tool to our workflows. Rebecca's presentation concluded with a fascinating discussion with Mary Dilinger, a self-advocate for blind and disabled artists and user of audio described content.
We closed out the event on Saturday evening with our feature screening! This year we were thrilled to share original films created by two artists from Spectrum Productions' Spectrum Creative Network: Jérémie Dufour and Benjamin Bisanti. Jérémie's Une Chance and Benjamin's film Mystical Pizza Delivery were truly worthy of the applause received!
We were able to share so much over the two days of Spectrum Fest 2023, and it is so encouraging to see how big the community is becoming. We would like to give a big shout out and thank you to the incredible staff at Concordia for their support and kindness in hosting the event at the J.A. DeSeve Cinema. And of course, thank you to everyone in our community for your ongoing dedication and support!
Le Spectrum Fest 2023 a été un succès retentissant et une nuit victorieuse pour nos héros cinéastes ! Le vendredi soir, nous avons donné le coup d'envoi de notre festival de deux jours avec la première très attendue de Spectrum Live Saison 2. Le tapis rouge a été déroulé, les lumières étoilées ont orné les murs et, avec du champagne, des plats délicieux et un service impeccable fourni par Traiteur G Catering, nous avons célébré tous les artistes et créateurs qui ont contribué à cette nouvelle saison. Le spectacle n'a pas déçu, et nous avons même pu rencontrer certains des créateurs comme Angela Criscuolo, directrice de The Secret Ninja et Lucas Leroy, créateur de The Blobz. Nous remercions chaleureusement Patrimoine canadien pour son soutien à la diffusion de cette production sur grand écran et nous félicitons tous les participants pour cette première réussie !
Samedi, nous avons assisté à une présentation spéciale sur l'audiodescription donnée par Rebecca Singh. Cette année, nous avons été ravis de partager des films originaux créés par deux artistes du Réseau créatif Spectrum de Spectrum Productions : Jérémie Dufour et Benjamin Bisanti. Une Chance, de Jérémie, et Mystical Pizza Delivery, de Benjamin, méritaient vraiment les applaudissements qu'ils ont reçus !
Nous avons pu partager beaucoup de choses pendant les deux jours du Spectrum Fest 2023, et il est très encourageant de voir à quel point la communauté s'agrandit. Nous tenons à remercier l'incroyable personnel de Concordia pour son soutien et sa gentillesse lors de l'organisation de l'événement au cinéma J.A. DeSeve.
