10th Anniversary Gala Thank you!

Une autre année passée, une autre édition couronnée de succès

Another year, another successful Gala!

Au théâtre Rialto, la communauté s'est mobilisée pour soutenir les jeunes cinéastes de l'été! Les gens souriaient, riaient et se donnaient des câlins! Sans parler de la nervosité de ceux dont les films seraient projetés pour la première fois. Les gens ont commencé à se rassembler autour du théâtre avant même que les portes ne s'ouvrent. Dès leur entrée, ils ont été accueillis par Robert et Leeza qui vendaient des chandails flambants neufs et du pop-corn! Les gens venaient et sortaient de la salle des enchères, passant devant la cuisine où Pete vendait des hot dogs et Jake prenait des photos amusantes!

La soirée a débuté par une présentation du personnel principal de Spectrum: Dan, Felipe, Cameron, Sonya, Eric et Michele! Ils ont mis en lumière leurs moments préférés des dix dernières années et comment ils étaient heureux de s’être rendus aussi loin! Ils ont également mentionné que, depuis qu'ils ont atteint leur statut d'organisme à but non lucratif, ils sont maintenant si proches de la prochaine étape; le statut d'organisme de bienfaisance! Deux importants invités, le sénateur Munson et la député Bendayan, sont venus parler de la communauté et comment c’était une grande coïncidence que Spectrum ait connu un tel succès. Jim Munson a notamment déclaré: «Je suis ici parce que vous êtes ici."

À la fin des discours, les films ont commencé et tout le monde a été émerveillé par leur qualité! Comme nous en avons fait que 12 cet été, l’écriture, la cinématographie et les effets spéciaux étaient à leur meilleur! Nous sommes impatients de vous les montrer à tous l’année prochaine au fur et à mesure que nous les publierons sur youtube. Alors, abonnez-vous à la chaîne pour ne pas les manquer! Sans vous, nous n’aurions pas eu 10 ans d’un studio exceptionnel pour que les artistes sur le spectre de l’autisme puissent faire des films! Passons maintenant à la 11ème année!

The 10th Annual Gala has come and gone, and it was an incredible night!

At the Rialto theatre, the community came out in full swing to support the young filmmakers from the summer! There was laughter, hugs and smiles all around! Not to mention some nervous energy from those whose films would be shown for the first time. People started crowding around the theatre even before the doors opened, and as soon as they walked into the theatre they were welcomed by Robert and Leeza who were selling brand new shirts and popcorn! People filtered in and out of the auction room, passing the kitchen where Pete was selling hot dogs and Jake was taking fun photos!

The night started off with a presentation by the core staff of Spectrum: Dan, Felipe, Cameron, Sonya, Eric and Michele! They highlighted their favourite moments of the last ten years and were just so amazed that they had made it so far! They also mentioned that as they had achieved their non-profit status, they are so close to the next best step, charitable status! There were some very notable guests as well like Senator Munson and MP Bendayan who came up to talk about the community and how big of a coincidence it is that Spectrum has grown and been so successful. Jim Munson said in particular, “I am here because you are here.”

As the speeches came to a close, the films began and everyone was amazed by the quality of the films! Since we only made a total of 12 this summer, the writing, cinematography, and the effects were the best yet! We can’t wait to show all of you next year as we release them on Youtube. Thank you to the parents, supporters, and friends of Spectrum for making the studio and community strong and engaging! Without you we wouldn’t have gotten to 10 years of an amazing studio for autistic creatives to make films! Now onto year 11!
