Happy Autism Acceptance month everyone!

Very happy to share some summer camp news with you all! SIGNUPS are open as of today!

We will be running summer camps in a hybrid format this year, where we will be able to shoot in person for 2 films from each camp WOO HOO! But we will keep pre- and post-production in an online format to avoid being inside in large groups.

In addition, we are offering flex-camp to participants who prefer part-time creation and want to receive mentorship throughout the summer.

ONE LAST BOWL + DATA BREACH SCREENING

HERE’S WHAT IT WILL LOOK LIKE

For a typical 2-week camp, we will spend Week 1, or 5 days in pre-production over Zoom, 2-3 days of shooting in person in and around Spectrum’s studio, and 2-3 days of post-production virtually on Zoom again. The same will apply for Advanced Camp, with an extended shooting schedule.

During the shooting days, we will aim to split into very small groups for indoor green screen shooting, location shoots, and outside shoots, always following a clear and effective COVID safety protocol. Keeping our groups small means that some group members will shoot on one day, and work from home editing on another day.

In addition, we have set up Virtual Work Stations, where participants will be able to login and use software for editing, animation, and special effects from their own homes.

WHAT IF I’M NOT IN MONTREAL OR I CAN’T MAKE IT TO THE STUDIO?

For those of you who want to continue participating remotely, we will have one group for each camp who will work on animation or remote filmmaking. This means that we will save 10 spots for live-action/Montreal-based filmmakers and 5 spots for animators or people signing up from across Canada and the rest of the world. We will touch base with each participant to make sure the option you have selected and the modalities will work out for you as a creator.

SHOOTING SAFETY GUIDELINES

We will issue a shooting safety protocol related to COVID-19, to make sure we stay as safe as possible when we meet in person.

COVID-19 SITUATION

We are hoping for the best, but we are always planning for all possible scenarios. If the province introduces restrictions on gatherings, we will adapt and create our films from home as best as we can.

À QUOI ÇA VA RESSEMBLER

Pour un camp typique de 2 semaines, nous passerons la semaine 1, ou 5 jours en pré-production sur Zoom, 2-3 jours de tournage en personne à l’intérieur et autour du studio de Spectrum, et 2-3 jours de post-production virtuellement sur Zoom de nouveau. Il en sera de même pour Advanced Camp, avec un calendrier de tournage prolongé.

Pendant les jours de tournage, nous viserons à nous diviser en très petits groupes pour le tournage sur écran vert à l’intérieur, les tournages sur les lieux et les tournages à l’extérieur, toujours en suivant un protocole de sécurité COVID clair et efficace. Garder nos groupes petits signifie que certains membres du groupe tourneront un jour et travailleront en montage à domicile un autre jour.

De plus, nous avons mis en place des postes de travail virtuels, où les participants pourront se connecter et utiliser des logiciels d'édition, d'animation et d'effets spéciaux depuis leur domicile.

ET SI JE NE SUIS PAS À MONTRÉAL OU JE NE PEUX PAS ME RENDRE AU STUDIO?

Pour ceux d'entre vous qui souhaitent continuer à participer à distance, nous aurons un groupe pour chaque camp qui travaillera sur l'animation ou la réalisation de films à distance. Cela signifie que nous garderons 10 places pour les cinéastes en direct/montréalais et 5 places pour les animateurs audiovisuels ou les personnes qui s'inscrivent de partout au Canada et du reste du monde. Nous communiquerons avec chaque participant pour nous assurer que l'option que vous avez sélectionnée et les modalités fonctionneront pour vous en tant que créateur.

CONSIGNES DE SÉCURITÉ POUR LE TOURNAGE

Nous publierons un protocole de sécurité de tournage lié au COVID-19, pour nous assurer de rester autant en sécurité que possible lorsque nous nous rencontrons en personne.
